Gayatri Yagna

About Gayatri Devi and the Gayatri Mantra

Gayatri is the mother of all the Vedas. She is the life giving force. She is a Mantra Devi, a manifestation of all the beech mantras. Gayatri can be seen as the female equivalent of Brahman and the equivalent of Raja Rajeswari, Parama Shakti, the Universal Mother, the Power of God manifestation.

She not only includes the earth, but all the three worlds together, i.e. also the spiritual world and the heavenly abode. That’s why there is a lot of healing that comes with the mantra. In governing all the lokas (worlds), the mantra has the capacity of healing the body, mind and soul (bringing them in balance), so that one can liberate oneself.
The sage Vishamitra received the mantra for Sarva Shakti (“sarva” meaning: complete/all), the Shakti of All. The Gayatri is considered as one of the most powerful mantras. It is so powerful, because there is a combination of the beech mantras of all the Gods infused into it. This is why even all the Avatars such as Krishna and Rama and all the Saints chanted the Gayatri Mantra.
Vishamitra initiated Rama into the Gayatri Mantra, and when they were sitting near Allahabad, where there is the confluence of the three sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, he poured water over Rama’s head and thus transferred the Shakti of the Gayatri Mantra into him.
When Swami was asked once, whether there is something unknown that he can share about the Gayatri, he simply remarked: “The power of the Gayatri is not known.”
When we asked him how to use it, his answer again was very simple: “You just chant it.”
